A Dinner Made by… Basically Everyone

Dinner at home can be funny.

You think you’re cooking, but actually half the meal is gifts from other people.

This night was exactly that.

The main dish was hamburg steak from Gunma, a share from my in-laws.

I topped it with sautéed mushrooms to add more fiber and to make myself feel like a slightly responsible adult.

I also made spinach + soy-milk potage, which sounds fancy but was honestly just cozy and creamy.

Perfect for pretending it’s cold outside even if it’s not.

The rice was special.

It came as a thank-you gift from a girl on my team, so cooking it felt like opening a tiny edible present.

On top, I sprinkled “edible tea”, a gift from my team.

I’m not sure who first thought, “Let’s eat tea,” but I respect the chaos.

Two bananas were about to die dramatically on the counter,

so I turned them into a sugar free pound cake with okara powder (soy pulp).

It was healthier than it looked, and we brought it for a picnic the next day.

I love when leftovers go on little adventures.

So yes, this dinner wasn’t just food.

It was a nice reminder that many people quietly exist in one meal —

family, friends, coworkers, and even bananas trying their best not to go to waste.

A normal evening, full of small connections.

Delicious in more ways than one.
